Growing also means knowing how to stop: the art of celebrating and recognizing in the company

One of the most important things about building a company is also one of the most forgotten.

I have learned over time that daily tasks and the pressure of day-to-day often prevent us from seeing some of the things that matter most when growing a company.

Because many times we are so focused on reaching the next goal that we put off something equally important: stopping to look at what we achieved.

Growing also means knowing how to stop.

Looking at what we accomplished, recognizing the effort behind it and giving a place to the people who made it possible.

Because behind every result that appears in a presentation, there is a team that put in time, energy, ideas and much more than what a number ends up showing.

And I believe that, as leaders, it is also our responsibility to make that part visible.

Because the result shows what we achieved.

But how we got there and who made it happen also deserve to be recognized.

So, if you lead a team, I want to share three things that I keep in mind every day, and that are, without a doubt, a big part of being able to keep growing:

→ Celebrate achievements with the same intention with which you plan them.

We spend weeks thinking about a goal, working to reach it and solving everything that appears along the way.

And when it finally arrives, it's worth taking a pause and giving that moment the importance it deserves.

→ Recognize people's effort, in addition to the result.

There are things that never appear in a metric: an idea that unlocked something, a problem that someone solved without being asked, a conversation that came just when it was needed.

Making space to recognize them is also giving a place to the person who made it possible, and showing them that what they did did not go unnoticed.

→ Create moments that the team will remember.

They don't have to be big or special in themselves. It can be something simple, but thought out for the people who are there.

Because when we make space to share what we just achieved, we are also building a story that the team can feel as their own.

And perhaps that is what we most easily forget.

A goal arrives, is met and another one immediately appears.

But the people who were there, the moments we shared together, the challenges we faced and the way we chose to recognize it can stay with us for much longer.

And for me, that is also building a company.
